country in the southeastern West Indies north of eastern Venezuela consisting of two main islands in the Atlantic, Trinidad and Tobago, along with several smaller islands; capital Port of Spain area 1980 square miles (5128 square kilometers), population 1,216,000

Note: Trinidad and Tobago was formerly a British colony and has been a dominion of the Commonwealth of Nations since 1962.
